Midnight Trace

Midnight Trace is our first boat originally commissioned by Heyford Fields Marina; she took 2nd place in the Favourite Boat at the 2013 Crick Boat Show.

Exterior

Midnight Trace is a Cruiser stern boat built on a 57 foot Reeves shell with a Bantock-inspired bow. It has been painted with dark blue cabin sides, cream coachline and roof, and red handrails; the brass mushroom vents, horn and tunnel light enhance the traditional look, as do the brass coloured double glazed portholes and windows.

The well deck has storage lockers on either side which can be used as seats. Access to the bow thruster is by means a locker across the front, and there is a gas locker in the nose.

Interior

The interior is fitted out with oak tongue and groove below the gunwales and ceiling with the cabin sides finished in cream to give a spacious, modern look.

Midnight Trace has a reverse layout with the saloon at the stern. The treads of steps that lead down into the saloon lift to give access to storage space; at the bottom there is an area for umbrellas and coat hooks. On the other side of the boat we have provided a desk area.

The saloon has a solid fuel stove positioned to spread heat evenly throughout the boat. An under-gunwale unit provides storage and display shelves. Opposite this is a large red leather sofa that converts into a double bed.

We have separated the galley from the saloon with a breakfast bar underneath which is a full size freezer and a storage cupboard.

The U-shape galley has black granite worktops and stainless steel sink. There is a full size fridge, Caple oven and grill below the four burner hob with an extractor fan above. There is plenty of storage space with soft closing drawers, cupboards, and high level shelving.

The walk-through shower room has frosted glass doors at each end. The shower has a black granite laminate shower tray and shelves. Across from the shower is a granite topped basin unit with a large mirror above it.

The 4′ wide bed is easily extendable to 6′. Behind the bed is a mirror and reading lights together with high level cupboards. There is plenty of storage space with large drawers under the bed, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe with a long mirror, and a corner unit. A flat screen TV fed by the satellite receiver is mounted facing the bed.

The step up to the front door has a lift up lid and can be moved to provide access to the water pump, accumulator, and stop cock. The front doors are stable style glazed at the top and solid at the bottom.

The engine is a Beta Marine 43 and we made access to the engine hole as convenient as possible by allowing as much of the rear deck as needed to be lifted. The engine hole also houses the calorifier and six 140Ah gel batteries. 240V power is supplied by a 3kW Victron Inverter. There are independent chargers for the starter and bow-thruster batteries.

Lighting is on a 24V circuit which is more stable than 12V circuits; there are a couple of 12V sockets on board. Lighting is low-energy LED and is two way switched.
