Boating Leisure Services have a pedigree in building quality narrow boats and wide beams for their clients. After 15 years repairing, maintaining and adapting clients vessels, it was natural to use that skill set and gravitate to build high quality commissioned boats after many requests.
The success of this new venture has seen Boating Leisure Services build over a dozen boats and many of these have won awards at public shows.
Whilst not ignoring such successes, the foundations of all builds is based upon the pragmatic and expert advice in the design phase, to hone clients ideas and to create a beautiful but practical end result.
Clearly budgets and expectations have to be realistic, but in turn can be flexible to accommodate change during the design and build as choices become apparent. An outline specification is the base point which is attached an estimated price. If interest is engaged, a small deposit is sought to create a more detailed estimate and firm up client choices with a plan.
The contract used between Boating Leisure Services and client is the British Marine Standard one with staged payments. This protects both parties and ensures title of the boat during the build resides with the client. Staged payment ensures progress against build goals and protects budgets and costs.
Boating Leisure Services recognise that the build can be an exciting time for clients and welcomes their involvement in visiting and checking on progress. The timeline will be determined by supply of components, primarily the hull.
The final build completion is not the end of the journey either. There is a minimum of 12 month warranty (in some cases with OEM warranties being longer) and for many clients the relationship continues with maintenance and blacking being carried out by the builder.
If you are interested in understanding the process and viewing some of the boats which are still based at the Heyford Fields Marina (subject to availability) please contact us via email or telephone. We welcome your interest.
